I have had many opportunities to pick up a monitor trunk example over the years to add to my collection but failed to do so as most all consisted of the plain metal body covering and tin slat clamps which really didn't do much for me. So when this one came up with die cast trims which I have never seen before and the butterfly and flower body metal covering... I knew I found my example & I'm glad I waited. It measures in at 34" long x 21" deep x 26" tall. No interior tray and the one half of the lid area is gone. The lock looks like it has a worn machine brass face area, but can't see any signs of any makers letters with in those marks ... but it does have a star like stamp on the back side. This trunk reminds me of a Romodka Brothers style trunk with the vertical end slat and kind of similar hardware shaping, but can't find any example to verify this. If anyone has a trunk with similar hardware I would very much like to see it. Hope you find it as interesting as I do.
very nice, you seem to have struck the mother load on trunks lately Tom.

Found this image Tom
Wow Drill, Six slats and different matching hardware with shoulders too. Very neat. Looks like its canvas covered judging by the front erosion. Did they show the inside or have a makers label. I am surprised we haven't seen more of this hardware style. Certainly looks like a Session ensemble and styling flavor on the front shoulders. Thanks for showing it much appreciated!!
No label, interior was nothing special . I have seen this style of hardware multiple times over the years.
Thought I would share another design patent image that I just came across last night.
Zoom in if you can. Enjoy!

Thanks Drill!! Better to save, rotate, then zoom...lol Radius on all four corners.. kinda like my canvas Romodka. Can't mistake those Carpeles back hinges. I had an opportunity to buy a Carpeles a year or so ago. Price was fine, but it was to far and very plain but for the back hinges and front shoulders.
