I found these gorgeous owl salt and pepper shakers at an Antique Mall here in Missouri, in 2015. These two were one of the first owl salt and pepper shakers that started my collection.
For five years, I have been stumped; I've spent countless hours researching for information and have not found an identical set.
Adorable "wise" owl S & P set, love their cap & gown outfits!
Are salt and pepper sets marked "Japan" equivalent to those marked "Made in Occupied Japan?
Hello AngMae,
I was just doing some researching on Salt and Pepper Shakers, because I was given a box full of them from an estate sale 3 years ago in Bellingham Washington. The Women went to a lot of Antique Auctions and Estate sales herself. In this collection I have a set of Owls very similar. Mine have on glasses and holding different objects. They each have their label. They are Lefton's REG.U.S. PAT. OFF. Exclusives Japan. They have Lefton on the bottom with 2 sets of numbers. The label dates them from 1953-1971. Yours are marked so differently, leads me to believe they are not Leftons? I will have to take pictures and post them for you to see. I would love to see what you think.
