These chawan are about 2" high x 3.25" diameter and weigh 5 ounces each, no maker's mark. Both cups are identical in size.
I've recently added three "new" couples yunomi to my collection but don't intend to use them and have been looking for a knock about cup, but I wanted something interesting and well made but low maintenance. I found these for $4 for the set and really like the look and feel of them. They are a good size, fit my hand well, are decorated on both sides and have an interesting swirled interior that reminds me of decorated latte. The glaze is a combination of coffee/chocolate/caramel colors with enough green to make me feel a nature connection. The cups were scribed a bit before the decoration and glaze were applied so there is some interesting roughness to them and the glaze is not perfect. Thin, but not too thin and they have a nice ring to them when the rim is flicked with my finger nail. I have small hands so can cradle them in two hands comfortably. And there are two so when I break one, I will have a spare. I am pretty impressed with these and look forward to using them. They were a bit dirty in the images but I washed them and they look like new. Maker and country of origin unknown, but probably Japanese.
Thanks for taking time to look at my new yunomi aura, Thomas, Ben, Kevin, Jenni, Watchsearcher and fortapache!
Thanks Eileen! I think they are pretty cool.
