    Here are four vases from Czechoslovakia designed and made by Ernst Steinwald or Wilhelm Kralik. They have three molten applied handles in various decors, they stand about 6” tall.

    To muddy the waters... here are my thought on these pieces in the order I purchased them. The reason why this is important: the evolution of my thinking has changed based on the decors.

    1. Crystal clear uranium oxide and red handles. There are many decors that Kralik made with transparent colors instead of tango (some use tango and transparent colors mixed

    2. Marbled red and baby blue. This decor was sold to me as Kralik and has some matches in kralik shapes

    3. A technique with lines created using opal and transparent glass. The maker in a German advertising is identified as Ernst Steinwald glasfabrik;
    The decor is Osiris. Several Osiris shapes match Marquetry vases.

    4. This decor is a variation on the monochromatic confetti usually found in maroon. This comes in many kralik type shapes without the silver or gold deposit. What is interesting to me is when you do find the glass finished with metallic deposits it’s always signed with the oval Czech mark seen on many Ruckl pieces. I theorized at the time that kralik made the glass and then was sent to Ruckl for refining...

    Lastly there has been a maroon monochromatic decor that is blown into a cage. The shape matches one found in a museum signed Ernst Steinwald - thoughts please...

      Perfect study. I am convinced that all 4 vases were made by one and the same glassworks. In my opinion, the Osiris decor is sufficiently documented as a product of the Ernst Steinwald glassworks.

      Yes, I agree all made by the same glasshouse. The decors here encompass many possibilities and I would like to see more documentation and the advertising. The attribution of Kralik glass never sat well with me since visiting Lenora- the central question was: if this is the area of at least one of the factories why wasn’t there pieces we think of as the pinnacle later Kralik production? If anyone is familiar with the glass chips found in the river around the Kralik dump Please comment, are there any chips of glass that would match Bambus, marquetry, cane pieces?

      I am not ready to call everything Ernst Steinwald at this point even though they have more Documented evidence than Kralik does it seems too soon
