In Pursuit of a Lost Foundry

Cosseted by soft cleanser and lithe cloths, this antique burnished, cherubic babe—a figural pen mount and place card display—arrived at my residence, within the last one month’s time, vestured in one hundred years of recalcitrant dirt and grime.

Modelled after an unmarked, all-bisque Goebel character, this cupreous-cast imp has habilely moulded attributes: googly, intaglio eyes, a gaping grin, alated shoulder blades, plaited buns, and a large hairbow rimed by patina. Schafer and Vater—another renowned Thuringian porcelain factory, primarily known for artificing a panoply of ribald, political and parodic figural ashtrays, match safes and strikers, and statuettes—produced an all-bisque piece of this babe, similarly positioned, emerging from a large eggshell. And, yes, there is a similar piece of Carl E. Schultze's beloved comic strip character, Foxy Grandpa--he proves as scarce as she!

Now, as neither the Goebel nor Schafer and Vater factory has, to my knowledge, consociated with a foundry, this, I should like to know: by whom was this little darling made? Should one know, or offer a viable person, persons, or quondamly organised foundry, through which I may conduct further research, it will be much appreciated.
