This is a great old wallhanger. No markings anywhere. Just an honest old M1840 wrist-breaker. The scabbard is nickel plated. Many of the old veterans would do this so they would shine when they paraded downtown after the war. Not much value. I have no history except that it came from an multiple estate sale in Ohio around 15 years ago.

These seriously don't have any value? Was it us that used these?

Many of the import Civil War swords are not marked, but they are still desirable and sought by collectors.

It still has value-- just not as much as a US maker marked and dated specimen.

When I say 'not much value' I mean not as high as a marked example. Also the blade has been cleaned sometime recently, with a wire brush it looks like! I'm actually quite an expert on Union Cavalry Swords. I'd value this at $300-$400.
