This all-bisque parlour dog, or doll companion, is an unmarked German piece. He wears an intricately moulded bonnet beneath his lutescent hat, shielding his fulvous, intalio eyes from the sun, toward which he, with a raised paw, peers. Also, he has an open, dentulated mouth and deftly defined nares.
By which factory was he produced? I surmise, based on his characteristic features, he was fashioned by either the Gebruder Heubach or Hertwig factory. He has been, for at least one year's time, reposing in my personal collection. When searching online, I chanced upon an auction offering a vintage reproduction of this figure—of which piece it was emulating, the virtual listing had, unfortunately, left undivulged.
