Many of the wires in this display were designed with animal safety in mind. Barbs that revolve or rotate evolved from early designs that were rigid and unforgiving. Animals were susceptible to infections in open wounds caused by barbed wire. Bottle collectors prize the myriad of Barbed Wire Liniments that were available at the time. A large collection of bottles may be seen at the Devil's Rope Museum in McClean, Texas.
