    This fire hydrant what I can find out was made 1870's or 1880's by San Francisco company that sold in 1892 and change it's name. It's a single outlet, double outlets were made later. The ball on top was used to tie the horses of the fire wagon to. The company is Risdon Iron Works, can't find much info on it.

      great piece. Interesting how they fashioned a ball on the top to hitch the horses to. It's small things like this that show the ingenuity of our forefathers. ...... seldom seen in todays products.
