      With this pandemic people tend to lose their heads so it appears common. Sorry I couldn't resist an opportunity to be a wise ass.

      lol, they are definitely the worse for wear, but wonder if this is because they are old. Very unusual presumably they were some kind of touristy souvenir etc

      The expression is mud men, and there were many of these small figures produced and exported, this was also the time of the big jardinieres on tall pedestal, you could make a fun scene with them set in your plant pot.
      I'm sure some people collected them for their what not shelves and cabinets.
      They were made by hand with soft clay, and heated in a kiln, as well as hand painted, with a few colors. Nice collection, thanks for posting.

      Thank you for the information, never seen them before and although a bit battered nice they have kind of survived.
