This was my very first silver compact, and it has remained my favorite for years! The hand-etched design of graceful tulips and their foliage won me over, and the fact that the artist signed her/his work makes it all the more sentimental. From what I found after some research, these compacts were produced during the 1940s and 1950s, and almost all of them feature floral designs with the artist’s signature. I would love to know more, though, such as the company that commissioned them and employed the artists.
Several 950 silver compact mirrors are currently listed on vintage and auction sites, so I might be adding another to my compact collection in the near future. However, I’ve yet to encounter one that makes me smile quite like this piece.
I am ashamed to admit that I do not speak any languages other than English, so I am unable to translate the signature. If someone else is able to do so, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for stopping by, and enjoy!
Very pretty, nice work.
kwqd, thank you so much! I love flowers, so this grabbed me the second I saw it. :)
Hello, are you sure it's silver?
