I purchased this unique dresser in Virginia and wanted to know what style it might be and maybe how old. The hardware is definitely not original, there were cup handles for the drawers that are no longer there. It's an extremely heavy piece and made from one solid piece of wood with the exception of the tops (not sure what kind of wood). and the drawers are dovetail. The stain on it might not be original either. It's about 51" tall, 43" wide. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

      Looks like late 19th century.

The solid side is odd as there is usual a piece at the top and bottom to reinforce the case. Also top drawer pair look like the fronts may be replaced.

This type of furniture is not in vogue now. Bargains abound-- a real buyers market!
