This is a Walther 28cm. "Berlin" bowl which appears in their 1937 catalogue but may be earlier. At first I thought it was a bowl by the Yugoslavian company STS Abel which is very similar but this one has a holly? motif on the base and rim. It has lots of chips but was very cheap.
Love these glass pieces, they are very pleasing in their shape and color. Thanks for posting.
You are most welcome truthordare. Yes it is a lovely looking bowl which I bought from what we call in England a "car boot sale", an outdoor table-top sale. It amazes me things like this still turn up, it apparently came from the house of a 93 year old lady.
That is it, a 93 year old lady who is parting with her treasures, to end up in a car boot sale in UK. Since Ebay started in late 90s, so much great stuff has been sold and resold, now we are lucky to find much, it seemed like a never ending supply, but no, I envy your the opportunities. I am in the middle of nowhere, with few offers of this kind of pieces at garage sales, we call them. At least there is CW where you can share these finds. Thank you.
