These neon lights herald the entrances of the Boscov's Department Store's parkade in Wilkes-Barré, PA. The parkade was constructed in the mid 1950s.
Neon, for various reasons, none aesthetic, is being replaced by cheaper, soulless "modern" lighting systems. Thus, I fear, when the gas exhausts from these lights, they will be replaced by bland substitutes.
