This Victorian spatter glass vase is a new arrival from eBay AU.
It is made from two layers of cased glass - clear over a spatter of white, blue, & deep "oxblood" red, & it measures 19.5 cm tall, 12 cm across the four sided, finely crimped top rim, & 8 cm across the base.
This is an interestingly shaped vase, with it's integrally moulded '"snake", which I have not encountered in Australia before. In books, I'd seen a vase like this made by Fenton - they called it a "wheat vase", & it was apparently based on a Victorian design. I think this one is one of the originals, rather than 1960s Fenton. Possibly by Legras?

I was just about to say Legras as well. So many of their spatter pieces like this go unidentified, but we have great information on them - even shape names and numbers. I have two Legras catalog PDFs from around 1898, and there is also a wonderful book showing many examples of their work: ‘Legras: François-Théodore Legras verrerie artistique et populaire française' by Dominique and Jean Vitrat and Jean-François and Marie-Françoise Michel. Let me know if you’d like the PDFs and I can send them to you. :)

I saw this for sale Marin and was going to let you know but then realised, of course, you had seen it!
Amazing what pops up here but it makes the overall price acceptable. OS post kills!

Thanks also, Michelle - & I'll be in touch shortly. I don't see much Legras glass in Australia, so this was a fortunate find indeed!

Karen - you know me too well, LOL!
I'd always rather liked this shape as made by Fenton for their "wheat vase" version, which came in a multitude of colours & decors...& thus was similarly interested in obtaining the 19th century inspiration for it, so this piece ticked all the boxes!
Agree on the postage...it's just too much of a bother at the moment, & I've now realised that I can consistently find super items locally...so I think I'll be keeping the habit going forward!
