    This set of 3 ceramic cups were acquired about 10 years ago. At the time I had several favorite Japanese sellers in Japan who sold on Ebay.

    One was for decorative items or table top utilitarian pieces, the another was for Japanese textiles that were new/old stock, and highly appreciated. The majority being cotton or silk.

    I knew these were recent when I got them, but they were quite different from the porcelain type of cups, and I like the dainty hand painted decorations. Japanese culture prefers uneven numbers in their drinking and eating sets. The tomobako box was never offered or shown.

      Very pretty! I can't wait until the shipping costs from Japan to the US go back to normal. I've had my eye on a few things but the shipping cost is several times the cost of the items...

      I love that for the Japanese a great part of an object is it's tactility.
      You don't just drink from these, you immerse your senses in them.
