Hi! My grandfather was stationed in Italy during World War II and came back with these and gave them to my grandmother.
They are very beautiful and very intricately made. If you run your fingers across them you can feel each individual piece. They are about an inch in diameter. The flowered pendant says on the back,
“Made in Italy.” The lion pin/brooch only has the number 800 stamped on it.
I would love to know more about them, who made them, where they were made and how old they might be. Thank you!
Beautiful micromosaic pieces, the winged lion is especially gorgeous, lovely legacy from your grandparents
Thank you so much!
Thank you six-o-one!
The lion is Venice glass micro mosaic set into gilded silver .800 fineness.
Green corrosion can penetrate deep, it is better to clean it using soft brush and warm water.Nothing aggressive !
Thank your IVAN-49 for the information and the tip! I’m so appreciative!
The winged lion is the Lion of St. Mark [the Evangelist]. It's also a symbol of Venice. More info here:

Of the two pins, I like the winged lion the best. It's exceptionally lovely.
