    In 1953, NJ Route 30 was renumbered to NJ Route 69. At the time, the NJ State Route shields were 18" round cast aluminum like this. By 1956, the spec changed to flat green shields. So many route 69 shields were stolen that, by 1967, the highway was renumbered to NJ Route 31. I'm sure the one I have was among the stolen.
