Unknown medal, family indicated it was American Civil War...does anyone know? May also be a reproduction, no identifying marks.

Probably the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic). Probably from a reunion. From looking at U.S. news, it's beginning to look like they lost the War. LOL !
Very nice military piece, the top eagle and patriotic crest dangle are a great design
Newfld, this is not a military piece. This is something sold by a vendor at a GAR reunion, for profit. Vendors sold stuff like this at north & south reunions. Strictly money.
OK BB2 I get it, what I meant was a military style look. You know best here I was just admiring the look :)
Yeah, I know. After all, rhinestones ?!! LOL! It meant something to somebody. Who are we to question motives ? Have a good weekend. I'm watching these storms rolling across toward our Rock. Like being downrange in a bowling alley !
Nothing on this is indicative of a GAR piece.
It is ww2 era. The construction is of that era-- especially the shield attachment (as seen on the back) and the pin latch on the eagle.
This type of item falls under the category of "sweetheart jewelry"-- do a search online and you see a myriad of examples. They were worn stateside to show support for the war effort and loved ones serving.

Thanks everybody! I'll let you know when/if I can discover its provenance.
Mystery solved!
It's a WWII era sweetheart pin or mother's blue star pin.
Thanks everyone!
A blue star pin falls under the sweetheart jewelry category.
No blue star on it, so not a blue star pin.
Your pin served the same function-- to recognize military service of a family member during ww2.
