Just got this bricking chair when my husbands grandma passed. I know it’s at least 40 yrs old but would love to know when it was made. The back is a piece of burlap but nothing noteworthy on it

Bet that was, and will be, a real comfortable chair.

It was. All the grands and my three of the great grands where rocked in it. Staining it and reupholstering it. Can’t wait. Hopefully someone knows a yr.

I'm going to say mid-1900's just going by style & springs. I can't see any screw heads in the pix. If you see Allen head (X head) screws, it would probably be after around 1940. If slot-head, maybe earlier.

Agreeing with bb2, mostly for the same reasons. By its style and look (as you've shown it here) I'd guess 1930's-40's for it, but I'm also certainly nobody's expert in old furniture.

The one other anecdote I'll offer...one of my own Grandmas had a generally similar styled rocker in her living room when I myself was a child...there's little doubt I myself got 'put to sleep' in it many times too. Sadly I missed out on the chance to 'acquire' it for myself years ago when that estate auction happened, I've been hoping to run across something similar ever since.

Congrats for a great score -- especially as coming with its own "personal history" for you!! <applause>
