Hello
I recently bought a Model of the 1961 SS-X-100 Lincoln Continental Presidential Limousine at a yard sale in Dearborn Mich. It appears to be Diecast .The Bubble Top Roof appears to be Injection Molded with Silver inlaid strips. The model is painted in the original Deep Navy Blue of the actual Car. It has Jump Seats and a Continental Kit. The Seats have the Light Blue Highlights in the center which are some type of Construction paper. Also, it has the Rear Grab Bars for the Secret Service molded in. The wheels are wooden or very hard plastic. It also has front fender Flag Mounts. Regarding the Seats. All have the Tufting and Stitching effects molded in. On the original car the center area of the seat was Light Blue. While the outer area was a Dark Blue. The center area is a Light Blue Construction Paper. Giving the Color Scheme of the Original Seats.I believe it was either made by AMT Models for Ford or By Ford to show what the Actual Car would look like. I have been in the hobby for almost 50 years and have not seen anything like this model. I think it was either a Project model for Consideration or, a Model given to the Ford Design Team to get an Idea across, Or possibly a "Mockup". Basically its got me stumped! I can provide better pictures if you would like?
Please let me know if you have any questions. Model is Approximately 1/24 Scale. Weight approx 3 lbs. No identifying marks.
Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated.
Many Thanks. Wes Braman
I think they added the bubble top post Kennedy. Now they are heavily armored.
The original car actually had a bubble top. But it was not bullet proof
