Large Two Handled Splint Basket

I almost forgot about this old basket of my mothers! It was being stored in the 4th stall of my father's garage. I really don't know much about it but it has a unique design with large splint and what looks like woven wicker. It's approximately 16 1/2" wide and 11 1/2" tall and has two wood handles.
