As they stack they would probably have been ice cream bowls and possibly would have had a matching large serving bowl. The figures are a pale blue and are moving among tiny white and gilt flowers. When stacked the comparison between the two is easy, Clearly there are differences between the 'same' figures indicating all were hand painted. Possibly from Steinschonau.

Were stencils used, do you think?

If you look at the image of the stacked bowls you can view two versions of the same figures. These are sufficiently different to make me think hand painted. I'm happy to be corrected if any one actually knows.

Thanks for your response. I examined the image of stacked bowls and could observe the differences you mentioned. However, I also found the similarities (of angle and proportion) to be significant - which made me ponder the use of stencils, hence my query. Stencil work will create small differences too, of course. I would love to know the method. Hopefully someone can chime in...

The idyllic scenes on the border make me think about summer garden parties when people lived leisurely...Your bowls make me dreamy:)

Michelle, sorry I didn't spot your comment, it still isn't obvious on my phone. I'm very pleased you like them, however.

Wow22, I appreciate your imput. In fact looking now at image two I can see the evidence that stencils were used. Thank you.

yes it is marvelous these silohuetes. It is similar to the one I had posted some time ago inspired in the Fidus “Per aspera ad astra”. https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/280288-steinschonau-glass-with-diefenbach-and-f
