This belt buckle was found in an older
lady's yard that was having some rock walls put in for her garden. It was found by the workers who gave it to her . she asked if they wanted it but they said no so I bartered her for it.
Bullet in the buckle is a common staged fake Civil War relic. A reproduced buckle is shot with a real musket then the buckle is buried for several years to age it. I have never seen an authentic Civil War battle field dug buckle with a bullet in it.
The market was flooded with these a few years ago. Everybody had to have one. I hope you didn't barter something of value.
Agree fake with repro buckle.
I have seen authentic projectile struck belt plates from the civil war.
