An incredible souvenir book, lithographed by the HS Crocker Co., Inc., San Francisco, California. Copyright 1956 by Paramount Pictures Corporation. This is a magnificent series of Arnold Friberg paintings which lined the walls of Mr. DeMille's office during the preparations for shooting the film.
This commemorative book details in pictures the story of the Ten Commandments, the actors and their characters, Mr. DeMille and his assistant producer Henry Wilcoxon and music composer Elmer Bernstein. It also details the research regarding the background history of Ramses I and the ensuing story, the costumes and other details which were a feature of Mr. DeMille's productions.
In excellent condition with very little wear. The cover is not overly dry and is pliable. Only a little wear on the cover corner. No creases or dirt.
I would appreciate any idea of the value of such an item for mainly insurance purposes.
I just noticed this same book, or one very much like it, recently sold on eBay for just $1.26. I am thinking this is more of a case of the seller making an incredible boo boo by listing it in auction style and starting it at way too low a price instead of anything close to an actual value of this piece. Whoever won the auction got one heck of an incredible deal if you ask me.
I bet if the same thing was listed at a fixed price of $100 it would sell.
I am sorry, I meant to link the eBay auction I mentioned...
