When I told my husband I would go ahead and sell off my somewhat overwhelming collection of costume jewelry, I decided to start with all my Weiss. I started with this piece, which was my favorite. I gritted my teeth and put it up for sale. Naturally, it sold. Then, out of the blue, the buyer asked if I would cancel the sale! They said they made a mistake in bidding, or something to that effect. Actually, I didn’t care what their excuse was. I immediately, cheerfully, canceled their sale. Then, feeling somewhat morose, I listed it again. This time, I listed it for only several dollars below the winning bid. Apparently, this didn’t sit well with the bidders I’d had in the first auction because after several days, I had no bids and no one watching. So, I canceled the auction. Cradling my beloved Weiss, I put it in my great- grandmothers old china cabinet, along with my newly identified Schreiner butterfly set, my plastic brooch I just purchased (and listed here on show and tell) along with my blue brooch, also listed here. I promised myself, and the marital unit, I would only keep those things that I loved… truly loved… not for their value or their name, but those pieces that brought me joy. That struck us both as fair. What did not strike HIM as fair was when I suggested applying this same litmus test to golf clubs. But that’s another story for another show and tell. Perhaps another website altogether. ???? When I get them displayed to my satisfaction I’ll post a picture!! But I definitely wanted to share, for the first time, a piece of jewelry that, for ONCE, I knew exactly what it was and didn’t need to ask for help!
The sale goddess was telling you to keep this beauty!
Good effect of the Goddess :-) this beauty's fate is to stay with you and be cherished forever!
Isn't it strange hubbies stuff is impossible to part with? Mine still have his clubs, untouched for 10 years... Now it is bike stuff.... >_< LOL!
