My best friend gave me this bracelet that belonged to her Aunt Pearl, who was a hairdresser in New York back in the 1940s. Aunt Pearl grew up somewhere in the middle of 16 children, in the middle of the Georgia mountains. The best Aunt Pearl story was her gassing up her car in Georgia to drive back to New York and telling the attendant to put five dollars worth of gas in her big Cadillac. Nothing would change her mind to put a pennies worth more than that five dollars into her tank LOL

Aunt Pearl always had the top of the line jewelry and the most fashionable. My BFF gave this to me because her tastes are very conventional and she knows I love costume jewelry: The more outré the better!

The stones, at first, I thought were glass because they were cold when I touched them to my lips. The metal wasn't. The temperature difference was extreme.

I decided to resort to my fail-safe testing method. I have crowns on two teeth and when I tapped them on the stones, they sounded like glass but when I tapped them on my enamels, I could almost still say they were glass......

By the way, I hope everyone here is appreciative of this high-tech and highly secret testing method I have just shared with you! But I guess we expert testers must pass down our secrets sometimes I suppose… Right?

    Hahahahahahahaha

Anyway, I love how the stones are shaped. The purple crystals are also gorgeous but I don’t know how to tell what they are. I do know that with the ornate, high-end mechanical backing that this is a really, really nice piece and would love to know if anyone knows what it might be!

Also, Aunt Pearl apparently had tiny wrists. I, on the other hand, do not. I can wear it above my wrist bones but even then I’d worry without attaching a chain. Are there extensions that I could put on this that are better than a chain that would allow me to wear it on my wrist where it supposed to be worn? I don’t want to put any strain on it and possibly break it and even if the extension isn’t the most beautiful it doesn’t matter. All anyone will ever see is the bracelet! I just don’t want to put strain on any of the parts

Aunt Pearl probably paid 25 cents a gallon (or even a cent or two less) to gas up her Cadillac in the 1940s.....so if my math is right, she got 20 gallons for her $5.
      Beautiful bracelet!

I have some bracelets with the same clasp. I have never been able to figure out who made them. It might be the same time Selro/Selini bracelets were popular.

Hi salome000, it's a beautiful bracelet. Four panels tells me the bracelet might be wide? At least the ones I own are, usually 1 1/2" or 2". You've been given some good advice for extending the bracelet. Are you sure you want to wear this bracelet? The glass could chip, might be hard to replace those stones.

Mary and Eileen...I'm so happy you liked the blog! I really am. I'm actually sitting here with a big, goofy grin as I write this, although I'd appreciate you'd thinking I'm typing with a cool, professional, slightly bored detachment. You know...like someone who gets these types of positive reinforcements from people who are NOT relatives or foreigners who think they've landed on a Martha Stewart mirror webpage. Naturally, I wouldn't dare encourage them thinking they HAD somehow found a Martha Stewart offshoot, but since I'm sure their English may not be very good and I certainly would NOT want to mislead them, so I simply don't answer when they ask. I just send them to a link of a pretty fabulous tutorial of mine and that usually occupies them for a couple of months. I also offer them the link to sign up for emails so that they don't miss any said fabulous tutorials. Hey...don't judge! If it was up to YOU, you'd just barge in and embarrass them at the first opportunity and tell them they made a mistake!! On the other hand, I would allow them to save face by allowing them the chance to improve their English enough to figure out they had NOT landed on a Martha Stewart mirror site and they could make the choice to leave at that point.

So, now we see who the real not so nice people are, don't we, hmmm?

(This is a preview of my new post coming up...I hope you enjoyed it, Eileen and Mary!!! The both of you, along with Kyra and Karen mean a lot to me, as you have "been here" for almost every post! And NOT just in terms of identifying jewelry-although that's the majority of it. HAHAHA But even if you didn't, just chatting is fun! Not to mention learning!! Love you ladies!)

My mother turned 75 on the 4th and my 21-year-old son graduated from Basic Law Enforcement Training and passed his state certification on the 2nd so we threw her party on the 2nd and his on the 4th.

NOW...I'm going to do a post on the blog AND I have another piece I'd love to ask about...will post later.
