I don't know where to start with these. These are original vintage wall art posters that used to be hung in the very early Subway Resaurants. These Posters are not as old as they look, but they are 31 years old 1980 (Happens to be my age). There were not very many Subway restaurants back then, about 2500 approximately, and I have NEVER seen any like this before. I can't find anything online to save mylife. I find them interesting for a number of reasons. #1) I am a Subway franchisee and have been making sandwiches for 19 of my 31 years...long story. #2) The content covers two collectable areas. TRAINS and RESTAURANTS.
Subway is the largest Franchise in total stores in the World and I am pretty sure these posters are EXTREMELY rare. I would be interested in any comments or information on them. Maybe I am way off base here, but I have nothing to compare these too.
I would just like to add, that this is hard to search for due to the term SUBWAY...brings back alot on a "partially" related topic if you know what I mean
What years did Subway have the old "subway" decor / theme?
Subway did away with that "subway" theme/decor in 1990...what?
Please advise...I am so curious! ~THANKS! :)
I don't have EXACT dates. These posters dates are as old as I am. I am 31 and a very young franchisee. However I grew up in a Subway from the time I was 13 so I do know quite a bit of the history. I know that these posters came from our store on Grand Ave, in St Paul, MN and that that particular store is the 3rd oldest store in MN. Built the same year as the first two(1987). Stores typically were scheduled to remodel every 7years. But often would do so earlier if a new decor concept came out. Also back in the day, different regions would have different decor concepts so that might explain why you never saw them in Ok or TX. My guess is they were on the tail end of this decor theme when they built this location which is why we ended up with posters from 1981 in our store that was built in 1987. 7yrs later, my current partners remodeled the location and thought enough to save these posters. Again...not necessarily a valueable item, but I am pretty sure they are rare. I doubt many franchisees thought to save these posters.
Hi, Burgandy57.
In the picture of 6, I found the 3rd one from the left in a thrift store.
It is still in its sealed frame.
Did you ever find the value of these?
Should I run to the thrift store and buy it?
