Somebody might think I took the wrong patch here, and wonder what does this have to do with anything I have been interested in for years. Well. blame it on CW, and the great collections members have.

This coincides with my latest interest in vintage brooches, made with other materials, instead of the usual metals.

Buttons happen to fall in the same category, I bid on a recent auction in USA, that specialises in small items, and they combines mostly jewelry and buttons. I also found out that buttons, believe or not, are highly collectible. Probably because they cost little to ship, and if you know your stuff, you can spot the good ones easily.

Now, I know little except for Valentino-Mary's bakelite jewelry and buttons, to my eye the selection I have posted have potential. The yellow ones especially, that do have slight color differences, and the style is mat. Posting as a mystery, and I realise images are not going to answer all the questions.

Nice collection. A lot of buttons were made from vegetable ivory, Tagua nut.

Learning more and more, thanks Mary. I did want your opinion. The yellow buttons do have slight discoloration or uneven yellow shade the underside is paler than the top, but not having any real bakelite as far as I know, its hard to compare.

I checked the vegetable ivory from South American pods, that was fun to see what they create and produce with that natural source of element.

Not sure if the card was used with original buttons in last image, the buttons look a lot more recent than the smelly card.

Thank you CW members for helpful comments and the love, always appreciated.
