This Westmoreland bowl is 11.5 long x 10.75 wide x 5" high with a strong Westmoreland W over G mark. It weighs one tenth of an ounce over 5 lbs, so is a big chunk of glass. The mold work is very fine on this bowl, but my camera cannot capture it. Based on the strength of the mark, and the detail of the mold work, it was probably made with a fairly new mold. Made between 1946 and 1981, probably late 1940s to mid 1950s.

I saw this bowl yesterday at a thrift shop but seldom buy milk glass anymore, though that is what started my glass collecting about 30 years ago. I especially avoid huge, heavy pieces as they are difficult to store. There was a DVD I wanted to buy but it was in anamorphic "widescreen" and I prefer widescreen, was fairly certain that I already had it in my collection and it also didn't cost enough to use my credit card for, so I passed on both. When I got home, I found that my only copy of this movie was an old VHS tape and streaming rental was more than I wanted to pay for one viewing with resolution that would probably be worse than the DVD, so back to the thrift shop I went and bought the DVD and this bowl. I paid about $3.50 including tax for the bowl. Westmoreland is my favorite milk glass, except maybe for Vallerysthal. I can spot a piece of Westmoreland on a table full of American milk glass, so am not terribly upset about this purchase.

Just luv Westmoreland milk glass items. The attention to detail in Westmoreland milk glass designs is compelling.

Me too Daisy1000! Even though I don't actively collect milk glass any more, it is difficult to pass up a piece of Westmoreland. Thanks for loving my WG bowl.
