Just wondering if anyone know what year this sewing machine was manufactured? My parents bought it at a yard sale. The number on it is G19848

Hi, Geddes. :-)
There seems to be some kind of problem with serial number "G19848."
Per the International Sewing Machine Collectors' Society's serial number tables (which they got directly from Singer, who endorses them via linkage), even the lowest serial numbers with a "G" prefix have six digits:
*snip*
G- 000001 025000 27 25000 January 1 1910

Is there perhaps a leading zero in the numeric part of the serial number, i.e., "G019848?"
That would work, because it would put the serial number on your machine into that first block of 25,000 serial numbers (000001 through 025000) allotted January 1, 1910, all of which were destined to be stamped into the beds of model 27 machines.
Your picture does show a couple of distinctive features of the Singer family of machines to which the model 27 belongs: (1) the trapezoidal access panel (2) the dual split slide plates (one of which seems to be missing) and a circular needle plate.

If the serial number on your machine does not look like it's "G019848," then perhaps you could take a closeup picture of it, and add it to your post.
