Here a Flat top trunk I picked up made by M. Cherry out of New York. Measure is at 32"Long x 19"Deep x 21"Tall. Has some unique all cast iron slat clamps and corner bumpers. It also has a slightly different take on the what I assume to be Sessions fingering hardware. I posted some other examples. Notice the ends of the ones on this trunk are more cut off than the curved ends as on the others, even the ones advertised made by Sessions. I thought that was a little different. Also the lining they have done wraps the top back edge verses being cut off at the inside top edge. They do a nice job for the linen, very clean and crisp compared to many I have and have seen. It also has the center 90 degree back hinge lid stay. The lock is not original obviously but I am pegging this trunk to be from the 1880's. So any input on that would be appreciated. I have another I pegged from the 1880's by JC Gilmore also from New York. If you look at these trunks they are very similar in the characteristics, style and make up. So if my time slot if off on that one as well, feel free to chime in, you won't hurt my feelings..lol Incidentally the stain you see on the front is made from seal wax used to close or seal letters with.

I don't believe this is the slat clamp, it's similar in shape.Close as I can get.

Hey thanks for the 1887 90 degree Hinge, this one looks more like it. I just had the 1866 by JJ Cowell like I mentioned, you had posted it on one of my other trunks or someone else, I just forget now but....Cool & Thanks again!! The clamp ?? What do you think of the decade? Or do you think it is more 1890's because of the date of this hinge?
