These are neat.
There is a spring loaded button on the bottom of the base where if you lift it up, the candle illuminates and when you set it down, it'll turn off. You can also override this feature where it'll stay lit all the time by pushing the button in and then pulling the button out when you want to turn it off. Made in the 30s starting around 1932. Uses (2) "C" batteries.
I am also lucky enough to have one new in the box.
Yes -- you are lucky to have one with the original box! They are fun -- I have one and do use it to guide me to our bedroom when all the lights are out.
I have one, but it doesn't work. I really like the lines though. Thanks for the info, I am missing the button on the bottom of mine.
I have one just like this that we played with as kids, but my cat knocked it over and broke the glass top. Any idea where I can find a replacement? If not, I would love to find a complete one just like it - just missed out on one on ebay.
Been trough many hurricanes (Hugo, Andrew,Charlie,Frances and Jeane), it is a nice thing to have! I love it.
