Posting this clock because I don’t know anything about it. I was hoping there may be some Gilbert experts out here that can help me determine age and model.
My parents found this at an antique shop and bought it for me because I like to tinker with them and display them at my home. My daughter has fell in love with this clock and I rebuilt it for her and was hoping to get some additional info on it.
Thank you all for checking it out! Bruce, I don’t know if your on here anymore. I could use your help here to solve my mystery????

      Hello Dschmid,

As my dear old Mom used to say, I'm still percolating. :)

I do have Tran Duy Ly's Gilbert reference but unfortunately I didn't find your clock in it. I also looked through several hundred "sold" lots on Live Auctioneers and didn't find anything remotely similar to your clock. So, I was say that it's not common, perhaps even a rare model. Most of the porcelain/china models in Tran were from circa 1900 give or take 5 years so I would guess that your clock would like be from that same time period as well.

Gilbert made some very nice porcelain clocks in my opinion. Their mainsprings are "dainty" and the movements are well designed/constructed.

Hope that helps a little. Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful. You might want to try posting on the NAWCC's Message Board: https://mb.nawcc.org/threads/post-your-gilbert-clocks-here.14332/

You'd need to register but it's free and open to the public.

Nice, proper job of servicing! :)

      Good luck with it.

I think I need another cup of coffee.

      Regards,

      Bruce

Bruce, once again thank you for your research. I’m sure that definitely took some time. I have the Seth Thomas Tran Duy Ly book. One of these days I’ll add to my collection. I’ll look into the NAWCC and see if we can get a positive ID. Thanks for your guidance!

Hi Bruce, I took your advice and signed up for a NAWCC membership and posted it to the link you provided. Very interesting website I have a feeling I’m going to learn a lot Clock repair. I have no professional training. Everything I have learned is from the Steven Conover books and you tube. Would love to get formal training someday.

      Hi Dschmid,

I'm glad that you've checked out the NAWCC Message Board Forums. I think that you'll find it to be a great resource and a friendly community of like-minded individuals. Some of them are career Horologists who make time to share some of their knowledge. I'm Bruce Alexander over there. Feel free to contact me via the "Conversation" function if you have a question or concern about anything. I'll try to make sure you get off to a good start. Be sure to read over the rules. If you follow those, you'll have no problems.

Steven Conover is an excellent resource. You have to be careful with YouTube though. There's some decent demonstrations and instruction to be found, and there's also some hack jobs that a serious Horologist would never recommend to anyone.

Hope to "see" you over there.

      Regards
