A good blue opalescent jug. I've seen a few of these in cranberry and green but none in this colour-way. Squared top with a knop just below. Crystal handle and a recessed snapped pontil. Maybe Bohemian? The lip of the mouth is smooth - fire polished? Optic vertical ribs around the circumference of the body. The handle is made with a series of bulges and is different to the run-of-the mill versions we see on jugs. Very attractive with the light behind it. Last 15 years of the 19th century. Height 20 cms and 16 cms across the jug's bottom.
