Pretty Victorian vaseline vase. Probably made in Stourbridge by one of the main firms or in London by James Powell? Lovely opalescent rim and the pontil is polished smooth. The profile of the base where it is pinched in would imply that it sat inside a metal frame. There could have been a pair originally. Made during the last 15 years of the 19th century. Some optic vertical ribbing around circumference. Height is 9.5 cms and 8.5 cms across the top. Bulbous body is wider. Good weight for its size.
