This pretty Webb vaseline opalescent dish arrived this morning from England. Interesting elongated shape rather than the abundant round versions for serving jam. Creamy opalescence is done very well just under the peaked rim. The presence of a fair amount of uranium in the glass mixture, the large polished pontil dimple and the cranberry lip on the top points me to this maker. Last 10 years of 19th century. Very heavy, with most of the weight in the bottom third of the body. There are thick optic vertical ribs around the circumference up to the vaseline girdle which held the dish in a metal frame. Very pleased when I opened the box it was sent in. Height is 9 cms and width is 17.5 cms long by 12.5 cms.
