Red Iridescent art glass made by Heaney in his Cape Byron Bay studio. Gold splashed on red and gold base with three upward extending projections. Substantial and heavy. Signed and dated on upper bottom rim [1994] There is a small gold factory sticker underneath. Heaney only engraved his signature on pieces made personally, while factory pieces made by others were engraved CBHG studios [Cape Byron Hot Glass]. Height 19 cms; width aprox. 17 - 18 cms.
I didn’t know that about the signature.
I checked, mine are both signed.
This is such a Heaney piece, like no other.
Thanks for the love and the comment, also racer4four. I read that in an on-line article about Heaney's studio, years ago. It's good when artists / makers sign their work. His signature is quite distinctive and it's a bonus when he gives a date. I wonder if anyone has written a book which details what he did up in Cape Byron over the many years he spent there making glass? It would be an excellent reference material. I'll try to post some more Heaney items today.
