Made by American Cabinet Co., Two Rivers, WI
On the bottom of one of the drawers there is a paper tag labeled: Mahogany (wood type) Dental (cabinet type). It is dated 1-7-1931 for the manufacture date.
It has 16 drawers that are mahogany front and metal drawers painted with a white enamel paint.
The top is a porcelain/marble sheet that sits loose on the cabinet.
The back of the cabinet is beautiful with seven panels and could easily be displayed in the middle of a room.
The cabinet is all original components and finish. The condition is extraordinary.
Serial number is 82427.
There is a hidden lever that is only accessible when you remove a certain drawer. When activated this lever locks all of the other drawers at once.
There is also a small hidden compartment under one of the drawers.
The upper cabinet consists of two drawers with textured glass. The inside of this cabinet has two shelves that are formed porcelain. (It smells like medicine in here!)
Defects (very few): A few of the original glass drawer pulls have flea bites (an industry term for very small chips) on the edges. They are not noticeable unless you are inspecting them very closely. There is a minor chip on the edge of the top porcelain piece (see pic). The inside of one of the bottom drawers is a bit rough. They all show typical use. There are a few, very small paint splatters where someone painted the room without covering the cabinet. These are not noticeable without close inspection. There are a few bumps here and there, but, overall for it's age and the type of use it was made for it is in exceptional condition.
I'm interested in any and all information you could give me! It's such a beautiful and interesting piece!
