My mother in law gave me these boxing cards the other day. There isn't a full set here but still good to see some of the greatest fighters ever in this series. I'll end up framing these and hang them up on a wall, better than being left in a box.
Don't hang them where they are in direct sunlight or they will fade over time.
Some great fighters here, Liston, Patterson, Johansson - nice grouping, good idea to frame & preserve them
Thanks for the comments. I've been looking at uv filtering acrylic protection instead of glass, which should protect the cards in a frame.
I have a lot of these cards also but no boxing that I can remember. From Tobacco to Tea cards I have over 60 albums with cards, most of these you could buy an album for them also. My mother bought them in Red Rose Tea by Brooke Bond, especially in the 50's to 60's but I love the older ones just as much. I have some still in packs which you could buy separate. Unfortunately mine are stored so it will be nice to see them again. You can buy 3 ring binder pages at a coin supplier usually that will have ones that are acid free. Beautiful little collection here.
Thanks PhilDMorris, I'll probably look up the ring binder pages as my mother in law found a few more. To frame these will take up quite a bit of space that my wife won't like.
I've a few old cigarette cards that I found thrown away in the street when I was a kid in the eighties. My dad looked up in a card catalogue the value of them, which was £6 each back then for mint condition, which these were. I found over 50 in total. I felt rich until my dad said I'd be hard pressed to find a buyer for them :-(
