    IronLace
    (930 items)

Our collections are composed of all kinds of things that speak silently of other places & other lives. In & of themselves, they have another life, as objects touched by history, retaining traces of the past. Looked at from a different perspective, they can be re - imagined inhabiting a landscape of fantasy...a strange paradise of velvet shadows, crystalline rivers, & vitreous life forms.
Let them take you somewhere magical, faraway in time...

I think I've developed eye strain from looking at your choice items - a richly exotic, magical and fantastic glass garden.

Much appreciated, Russel117! I confess that there is one ceramic item in here, added because it resembles either a miniature volcano, or a cluster of barnacles...a 1930s Empire Ware flower frog...it had to go in to complete the alien tropical island theme I had in mind. So much Victorian art glass, made in Europe, speaks of exotic climes filled with palm trees, water lilies, & other exotic flora. I almost imagine the workers daydreaming of escaping to a warmer, freer way of life as they laboured away at creating these fantastic things...

      Appropriately Stated.
I believe that when we collect the pieces of past times, we are saving a little bit of history and recognition for those who created the items we collect.
I also believe that every little bit of the past must be salvaged so that the future will cherish some of what is lost to most of the world.
I try to imagine the era and atmosphere of the which the collection pieces once defined, so as to place myself into those dreams and memories. Okay enough of that.....love the post and your elegant thoughts. Thanks Lori

Fabulous collection Marin, and just how I feel about each piece I love!..I believe each piece must have been cherished by others along the way, for something so very easily broken.

Glass Utopia, or a faerie glen, or exquisite nature.
      Whatever we want.
      Stunning.

Thanks so much, Penny! I think us collectors truly understand how fortunate we are to enjoy such rare & special things...it's a big part of the appeal, being part of a long chain of folks who love beautiful things...

Many thanks, Karen...beautifully said as always...we're all on the same wavelength as collectors, whatever we're into...& thanks also for the rainbow, which arrived today on my front porch!
