Well everyone, I’m usually good at digging for info but here it is. I know the maker, and have learned the history but this particular piano doesn’t look like any I’ve found. The other square grands are fairly ornate and heavy, this looks like a grand piano in a sewing machine cabinet. Anyone know anything about why it’s so much smaller. From what I’ve read these square grands are almost extinct

I'd be *really* curious to see what's under the lid/behind the keys on this instrument -- truly suspecting it might really be some variety of reed organ instead of an actual piano mechanism in there because, as you clearly show and state, its cabinet just doesn't look nearly large or heavy enough to hold piano strings...?????

And for that I thank you!!! I typed in Horace Waters reed organ and a video popped up of a guy playing that exact one. That’s not a sound I’m fond of. Thanks for the comment.

Further guessing this is the YT video you reference...yes, certainly an unusual tune, but not at all a bad example of the actual sounds your little instrument is meant to make, however 'strange' to our modern ears it might be. Reed organs are nonetheless charming little things for what they are/were, and I hope you'll keep yours preserved for future ears to hear!! :-) :-) :-) :-)
