This jar is about 7" wide at the widest and it is signed, but i can't read it. The lid fits snugly - which made me realize that it was a very nice piece. I assume the 77 is the date. Can anyone decipher the signature? I found it in Berkeley, CA. Thank you!

Initially thought it might be Andrew Matheson’s (UK) work. However, after a little research, it appears he consistently uses a distinctive impressed mark.

I find myself anthropomorphizing the cobalt decoration, not sure if the artist meant for it to be interpreted in that way?

I think the signature is Schurman 77. i found a recent sale of a pot signed Schurman 74 at a local auction house. it went for quite a large sum, but i can't find any info about the artist. i'm pretty sure it's the same one.

Philip Schurman from Berkeley made this in 1977. He confirmed with me.
