This one's a fun find, if nothing else because it was a recent gift from a friend who in turn got it from one of his friends (who had found it in the street somewhere and didn't want it) and specifically saved it just for me because he guessed (correctly!) that I *would* want it.
Pretty cool, ain't it, when one gets their friends properly 'trained for the hunt'...? ;-) <lolol>
It is, otherwise, an old ball-peen (aka ball-pein) hammer with half a handle, the remaining half being along its whole original length instead of how hammers usually get their handles busted off somewhere midways. It weighs in at a healthy 2.5lbs, its head is basically 5" across, and what's left of its handle makes it 16" long overall. It really looks to me like it has been well used even recently, as its 'ball' end in particular *isn't* nearly as rusty as the rest of it. (sorry, that prolly doesn't show in the pics?) It has an interesting sorta 'flatted' shape between the heads and handle, pic 3, but its only actual marking is an "N" in a circle under its head, pic 4.
