Hi everyone. Today I have what I believe to be an opaline glass vase...possibly late 19th or early 20th century. It is 9 in tall and 5 in wide at the rim. it's rather translucent when held to light. The pink decoration is hand applied. The thing that has me wondering is the pontil mark. I have seen countless pontil marks in my time but none quite like this one. As you can hopefully see in the photos the mark is somewhat irregular like one would expect, but dead center is a almost perfectly round "bump". Much like the "button" on a Daisy n Button pattern....but round with no flat sides. It is also a slightly darker color than the surrounding glass due to it being ground I believe. (It feels slightly rough in this area).
Can anyone help me determine if this is truly an older vase or a nicely made recent copy.....thanks in advance. :) stay safe everyone.
I am hoping it is an original....but since I was clumsy and chipped it on the way into my house I am ok with it being recent...lol.
