Blue Mist Brooch by SHERMAN. the waves are like mist rolling over the hills on a spring day.
(the return address states Oxford)
The back side shows the sturdy construction needed to keep this together, even a screw to hold it .
this piece is so different and I can not (so far) find a reference or name for the style, so I have deemed "Blue Mist".
Merry Christmas to all - and May 2021 bring brighter days for everyone!
Lori
The oval for the signature, along with the use of the baguettes tells us that it is one of his earlier pieces, very late 40's, early 50's. The blue colour just shimmers, a delightful Sherman piece to admire !~
Beautiful name for a beautiful brooch!
It's beautiful!! Merry Christmas Lori!!!
That's so stunning, I can't believe how tightly packed these are.
Phil, thanks for your expertise on SHERMAN, I never imagined it was one of this earlier piece. I really respect your knowledge and I am grateful you shared. Thank You.
This piece was such a find, when I saw it, I knew. My Aunt Liz started my bug for collecting - she said, "go out and look and when you find you know, you just will", she was right.
Eileen, I was awestruck by the screw in the middle, and the bridge it holds, it is engineering not just jewelry.
Maureen, appreciate your vision.
Scott, I browsed through your items recently, you have wonderful items, your style is all you, its intriguing interesting & inviting - what a great collection
Karen, I agree with you about the close stones, I love how the "PAVE WAVES" , that another name - thanks Lori
