Kevin's kind comment to one of my recent leather jacket posts mentioned 'backpacks', prompting the memory that I've now got one of those too...and indeed I guess it now belongs in my WILSON'S LEATHER collection I didn't really realize I had...come to think of it there's at least a couple wallets somewhere around here too...?? <lol>
This one comes along with many 'mixed memories' though, as it also came to me recently from the estate of a dear friend, who routinely carried it most everywhere he went. In fact, taking these pics just now turned out to be a slightly-too-much emotional experience, being unavoidably reminded that this very bag is what I myself reclaimed his 'personal effects' within after his passing last spring, and that it still in fact has some of his stuff in it...
Though I've admired it the whole time (~20+yrs at least) he owned it, for those same reasons I'll probably never be able to actually wear or use it myself...it'll just be one more of those things that I "have" until I myself am pushing daisies...
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Hopefully, as time passes, the memories this wonderful backpack brings will be more about the good times you had together and other good memories of your friend and not your recent sorrow at their passing.

That’s very touching that you are now the keeper and treasurer of your friend’s backpack. It obviously was very useful and durable and served him well all of those years. He would be pleased that you now have it and that his memory is so dear to your kind heart. God bless him and you both.
