I'm trying to identify this bisque doll.
All I know is that it's from my dad's side of the family. He thought it was English, but I'm wondering if it's German.
I can't seem to find any obvious marks beyond a 9 on the back of the torso. There's also a faint C and N nearby in pencil.
No tags on the clothing (but I also couldn't find fasteners to remove the dress and shift, so they could be hidden). Seems handmade, and some of it clearly done by hand.
Is there anywhere else i should be checking for a makers mark or other identification?
(Apologies for the poor photo. She's stored in a heavy case, which I couldn't easily move at the moment for better access)
Edited to add: I checked the back of the head (hair is glued on), feet and torso -no other markings other than the 9.
Wondering if she was repaired at some point. Eyes are glass. Body seems to be stuffed cloth.
Look at back of head could be under wig and also look at her shoulders in back . I need a photo of markings . She is a wonderful closed mouth bisque doll so earlier than open mouth and more desirable. If you can't undo back of dress to see shoulder plate with a seam ripper then hard to say maker . The clothes are not original to her . You can sew it back up after you look and take a photo. Very nice
