Believe early Baccarat. Glows under blacklight. Could use input for identifying this piece. It was found by my wife during a vaseline glass hunt , and truly lights up beautiful with uv light. As a new collector was nice to find something like this.

Thanks! I can't recognize pontils as well as "Cherryhill" from a 2016 post in an Antique/Pontil forum post. Our very own TallCakes liked the post. So......Cherryhill must be right!

Anyway, Baccarat is crystal isn't it? Some is signed but not all. I hope TallCakes stops by to look at your glass.

      I tend to ramble!

Baccarat did some work in their early years around 1843 using chrysoprase. This is what gave it the green apple look. I wish they had stamped all their work from the begining. Obviously stickers were not enough.

Either way. I got my moneys worth at 25 dollars.

Thankyou for looking those up for me Gillian. I have not had the goldwork on it tested yet, as i am afraid of doing more damage to it. Would like to set some kind of timeline first.

can't help with an ID but the photo of the bottom does look like a ground and polished pontil... possibly Bohemian?

Still trying to figure out who did a po til like this.

I believe my pontil is disk/sand. That created the circular mark welding look. Just not sure what places used that style.

Hello, to reply to tour comment on my post, my vases have ground pontils, not large, only 1/2" across. I think Bohemian glassmakers often left a rough snapped pontil, but not always. Pieces of this type are often called Bohemian but I sure they are French, possibly Baccarat but maybe one of the other manufacturers. The gilt decoration is I think high carat Gold. Here is a link to a site with some French catalogues.

Sadly the french magazines only go back to 1900 on that website. Have started looking for stoppers that are similar. Have yet to find one with that rounded off ball on top.
