Hi. I am hoping someone might be able to ID this vase. Large slab built construction and appears to have been in an auction. Sadly, no mark. I was wondering if it might possibly be an old piece by Win Ng. Thanks for any help or any alternative information source.
Thought I asked this yesterday, but i guess it didn’t post. It looks like there is an impressed rectangle-shaped mark below the 92 and partially covered by the paper tag?
Hi. Thanks very much for the comment. And I apologize for the photos. They are not very good. As I recall, the piece is unmarked. I will certainly recheck (and get better pics). If there is a triangle mark, who would you attribute the piece to? Would it make sense for this kind of construction?
Thanks again!
Denise
I suspect if that’s an impressed mark, it’s a rectangular Japanese studio chop mark. No guesses based solely on the form. If it is in fact a mark, you might try a pencil and tissue paper rubbing to hopefully reveal some of the characters within the rectangle
Hi. Thanks for the help. I will try this and see if something comes up. It is likely that the glaze has obscured a mark. Very frustrating!
Many thanks again. I appreciate the suggestions!
Best,
Denise
